The Justice Reform Initiative reports that in 2018, First Nations peoples, who make up 3% of Australia’s population, accounted for 28% of the adult prison population! Worse still, whilst only 5% of young people (age 10-17) are First Nations people, they make up 59% of youth in detention. The findings of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody have still not been fully implemented after 30 years. Sign the petition calling on government to end over-incarceration and collaborate to develop and implement evidence-based policies.
